Some great articles came out last week here in
Maine, on the cover of the Sunday paper!
You might note in the article that OceanPlanet
was damaged (again) in an unsual accident recently...long story, ironically
it was the first time the boat was going anywhere without me on board...and the
crew hit a rock! It's a bummer, but hopefully this story will
have a happy ending. Stay tuned.
Upcoming talk/Vendee Globe show:
Presented by The Windjammers of the Chesapeake
sailing club, 8:00pm on Saturday, December 2, 2006 at the Severn School theatre
in Severna Park, Maryland. For more info contact Commodore Drew Fleming at
theriverhouse@comcast.net
Now available: Audio recording of my Sept 28 show
at USM...it's not as good without the slide and video show! You'll have to
see it in person if you get the chance...;-)
Also coming up:
Interview hosted by the marketing school at USM
(University of Southern Maine) regarding sponsorship in the world of solo ocean
racing. Will be available by download/Podcast soon.
Congratulations to Kip Stone!
Fellow Maine-based solo racer Kip Stone won the
50ft division (class 2) in the Route
du Rhum race, finishing ahead of the formidible Servane Escoffier.
Great race. We look fwd to welcoming Kip back to Maine soon, perhaps with
"roast" at an (as yet) undisclosed location in Portland's great Old Port
district.
Barcelona World Race:
This race may be a valuable part
of training for the 2008/2009 Vendee Globe...hmmm....
The new PRB is one of the boats already entered in
the BWR:
Yow! Looks hot, eh? Unfortunately
Vincent broke the rig in the RDR so we didn't get to see how this new rocket
performs. What is nice it that one of the boats I was able to closely
inspect while in St. Malo was Sill et Veolia (Roland Jourdain's boat), won the
race. We definitely learned a lot on the trip.
More on OP soon, or drop me a note if you really
dying to know. |
