Check it out!
I have a new interview online, with some great
southern ocean footage, and with me talking about the history of solo ocean
racing...and more: www.t2p.tv.
Right now I'm sitting at Charles de Gaulle
airport...one hour till my flight to London, then JFK, then on to
Maine....
My brain is bursting with information from my
trip. From the preparation of the racers in Bilbao, Spain for the start of
the Velux-5 Oceans Race, to my visit to Les Sables d'Olonne (the start/finish of
the Vendee Globe), to yesterdays unbelievable scene at the start of the Route du
Rhum in St. Malo.
The Route du Rhum (RDR) is arguably the
largest sailing event in the world, if you gauge by live viewer
attendence. The only other contenders are the Vendee Globe, or
maybe the America's Cup. This year was the biggest ever for the RDR,
with 74 boats making the start, including 3 new IMOCA Open 60's, and all the top
existing hot boats other than the few other entered in the 5-Oceans (Mike
Golding/Ecover, Alex Thompson/Hugo Boss, and Bernard
Stamm/howdoyouspellhissponsor?). The 3 new boats in RDR are Michel
Desjoyeaux/PRB, Dominique Wavre/Temenos, and Jerome Beyou/Delta
Dore.
Ok, now I'm at JFK airport...my laptop battery died
at CDG and there was no where to plug in!
Need to run and catch the plane to
Maine...I promise to send more pics later, but here's one of the new
PRB:
