More projects underway:
On June 15, I submitted two seed grant
proposals that I'm associated with, to the Maine Technology Institute
(MTI). To find out what these proposed projects are all about, come to one
of my upcoming seminar/shows...see dates below...
Busy in Maine...boats, bikes, guitars...and work:
I've been racing on some other boats, primarily as tactician aboard a
vintage Farr 43 "Revolution II". This has been fun as we are now leading
the season series. Maine is a tactically a very challenging racing venue
so this has been great practice.
It has been good to be practicing guitar playing again...perhaps I'll have
to issue a new CD...and also getting back in cycling shape. The latter has
been harder than I thought, perhaps I'm getting older? Nah!
Rumbleseat Rigging:
In case you didn't know, I'm available for consulting on rigging,
performance tuning, navigation and communication, offshore weather access and
analysis, etc, through my business Rumbleseat Rigging. Trying to put to use what
I've learn on the water over all those years. Drop me a note at
rumbleseat@earthlink.net, or
bruce@bruceschwab.com, if you'd
like to pick my brain....
Upcoming OceanPlanet
events:
July 22: The Third Annual OceanPlanet Fundraising Dinner
Party, at the Osprey Restaurant. If you missed the 2004 and 2005 events at
beautiful Robin Hood Marina, you now have another chance! This will be
a huge lobster feed (in Maine you say "Lobsta"), along with a lecture and
slideshow by you know who. Along with a look back to the 04/05 Vendee
Globe Race, there will be new information on OceanPlanet
II and a discussion on the current state of the art in Open 60
design.
August 16:
Special event in Boothbay, Maine, with Bigelow Laboratories for Ocean
Sciences. More info coming soon. Bigelow created our great Ocean
Sciences online education resource during the Vendee race:
September 28:
Hannaford Hall, University of Southern Maine (USM)! This is a
tremendous venue at a great university, I'll be kicking off their fall
speaker series. More info soon, or call the USM Center for Continuing
Education: 207-780-5900.
